Meet Our Staff

Pastor Rob

Pastor Rob

Rev. Rob Warren

Pastor Rob has been the pastor of First Presbyterian Church since December of 2020. In that time we have seen worship move from on-line to in-person. We have also moved some of our educational offerings to on-line only (book clubs) and returned to a Wednesday Night bible study (food and fellowship). In-person visits have resumed as well.

Rob is a graduate of Marshall University (BA),  the Presbyterian School for Christian Education (Master’s in Christian Ed) and Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary (Masters of Divinity). He has worked in several churches as an ordained minister, as a chaplain in a retirement community, a house-parent and social worker in a home for at-risk youth and was ordained as an elder before entering seminary.

Rob believes and preaches the reformed idea of imperfect people humbled in the light of God’s grace. The primary themes of his preaching are our need to humbly recognize the need for Christ in our lives, allow the Spirit to reform us and recognize the majesty of the Almighty in the everyday. HIs hobbies include binge-watching horrible television shows, riding his motorcycle and playing guitar (which he brings to worship a few times a year). He does get a bit competitive in games of Sorry or Aggravation, and avoids Monopoly whenever possible.

When asked, if he were a tree, what kind of tree he would be, his answer was “shoe.”

Sherry Dixon

Sherry Dixon

Music Director

Sherry (pictured here with her family on the front porch of FPC) began playing the organ and piano at FPC in 1991.  She took some time off when her children were young and then came back a few years later as the choir director.  She is currently the organist/pianist and leads the choir.

Sherry married Junior Dixon at FPC in 1994.  They have 1 son, Carver, who is serving the U.S. Navy as a Nuclear Engineer and 1 daughter, Conner, who is studying to become a dental hygienist.  They also have 2 fur babies, Tiny and Milo.

Sherry retired after 30 years from the McDowell County School System where she taught first grade at Marion Elementary and Old Fort Elementary.  She keeps herself busy working part-time for Emergency Services as an administrative assistant, as well as FPC's music director.

Jamie Harrelson

Jamie Harrelson

Office Administrator

Jamie has been with FPC since November 2020. She is a self-described "bird nerd" and enjoys hiking, nature photography, and gardening with native plants. Interesting fact: One of her bird photos - of a Blackburnian Warbler photographed near the Parkway - is featured on the National Audubon Society website.
